Description
(2) 2000 U.S. State Quarters & Massachusetts Related Stamps                                SKU# 271550C

This lot is sure to appeal to U.S. History enthusiasts, coin collectors and philatelists! In 1999, the U.S. mint embarked on a decade long program that honored each state on a quarter. Each state's quarter would have its name, year of entry and a distinctive design on the reverse of the quarter along with the year of minting. These quarters are mounted on a cardboard sheet which describes the quarters on the front and on the reverse is a quick history of the state. Also mounted on the reverse are stamps related to Massachusetts.

Features:
- Obverse:  Inscription: "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / QUARTER DOLLAR / LIBERTY / IN GOD WE TRUST
- Reverse:  Inscription "MASSACHUSETTS / 1788 / THE BAY STATE / 2000 / E PLURIBUS UNUM" Image on the reverse is of a Minuteman in front of an outline of the state of Massachusetts.
- Quarter from the Philadelphia Mint
- Quarter from the Denver Mint
- Stamp issued on August 28, 1991 celebrating the centenary of James Naismith's creation of the game of basketball in Springfield, Massachusetts.
- Stamp issued on February 12, 1987 honoring Boston resident, Julia Ward Howe, who wrote "The Battle Hymn of the Republic".
- Stamp issued on February 28, 1987 honoring Mary Lyon, the founder of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts in 1837.
