Description
1921 German City of Wasungen 50 Pfennig Banknote SKU# 179747C
Notgeld, or "necessity money" was issued by institutions that were not authorized for money emissions around the end of the First World War. It was therefore not legal tender, but rather a mutually-accepted means of payment. Mainly issued in paper form, many other mediums were utilized including coins, leather, silk, linen, stamps, aluminium foil, coal, and porcelain. One of the rarest forms of Notgeld were the Spielkarten or "playing cards" which makes this fantastic item a great, unique piece of German monetary history! Whether you're a seasoned collector or just starting out, this card is definitely something you won't want to miss out on!
Features:
- Front face shows image of houses and reads "50 PF. 1.OCT.1921"
- Reverse face shows image of a town fire reads "50 PF"
- Written details are in German (see photos for details)
- Card comes in protective plastic sleeve
