On February 23, 1909 dreams took flight in Canada as the Silver Dart flew 0.8km over a frozen lake in Nova Scotia, marking the first successful flight in Canada. This beautiful coin commemorates that milestone moment in gleaming sterling silver. 2009 Canadian Flight in Canada Commemorative Silver $1 Dollar Coin:
- Composition: 92.5% silver, 7.5% copper
- Finish: proof
- Frosted detailing against a brilliant background
- Obverse reads: "ELIZABETH II D.G. REGINA" and shows a right facing portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and mint marked with the Royal Canadian Mint emblem
- Reverse reads: "CANADA DOLLAR 1909-2009" and shows an image a young person running, arms spread out as if in flight and features three significant Canadian aviation achievements in the background - the Silver Dart, the Avro Arrow and 431 Bomber Squadron (Snowbird).
- Coin comes in a protective plastic coin case housed in a Royal Canadian Mint issued velvet-lined clamshell case
